Study tip
The trap on the exam is naming the stage instead of explaining it: Stage 2’s defining event is the death rate falling while birth rate stays high (usually from better food supply, sanitation, and medicine) — that widening gap is what drives the fastest population growth, not the birth rate itself changing.
